*Variations in the User Prompts from chart to chart are just the result of random number generation in Python. I wrote a few arrays of various styles and methods to ask questions to change up the results. Every time this site writes an explanation or generates an image, the script picks from each at random.

I sequence the requests into multiple prompts because I find GPT 3.5 to perform much better with short, well-managed contexts. Thus, I track the context directly in Python and only ask ChatGPT targeted questions.

INTRODUCTION

The digital landscape has ushered in a new era of knowledge dissemination and consumption. Online platforms have become the modern-day agora, where individuals congregate in pursuit of diverse information. Among these, YouTube stands out as a colossus, with content spanning the spectrum from the mundane to the profound. Coupled with the omnipotent Google, the two form an inseparable duo, encapsulating both frivolity and profundity within the boundless realms of the internet.

In this study, we depart from the customary subjects of scholarly investigation to unravel the curious interplay between the flashy allure of YouTube video titles and the practical inquiries regarding immigration to Norway. A cornucopia of conflicting sentiments and motivations shapes the digital terrain, as users seamlessly transition from guffaw-inducing cat videos to earnest queries about relocation to lands steeped in fjords and mystique.

Within this milieu, we hone in on the YouTube channel "How Insightful Be Smart," renowned for its ability to distill complex subjects into pithy, clickable video titles. The channel's magnetic allure beckons viewers to embark on an intellectual odyssey, with titles that can rival the oracles of Delphi in enigmatic attraction. In a world inundated with attention-grabbing thumbnails and titles, our attention was particularly drawn to the astounding allure of "How to Master the Art of Hygge in 5 Minutes" and "Unraveling the Enigma of Norwegian Citizenship," which seem to beckon and charm the curious denizens of the digital realm.

Counterintuitive as it may seem, in this era of boundless access to information, the amalgamation of captivating video titles and the earnest queries about immigrating to Norway has set the stage for a unique intersection, where the frivolous and the profound collide. Our quest was to unravel the enigmatic linkage between the superficial allure of YouTube video titles and the earnest search for practical guidance on emigrating to Norway.

Our foray into this uncharted territory was buoyed by the deployment of advanced analytical tools, including artificial intelligence (AI) and Google Trends. These formidable tools, akin to digital divining rods, enabled us to uncover the latent patterns and intricate connections that underlie the seemingly disparate domains of online entertainment and earnest inquiries.

Our findings, as presented in this paper, not only shed light on the whimsical confluence of digital consumption but also serve as a testament to the profound connections that often elude casual observation. As we traverse the realms of online engagement and inquiry, our endeavor seeks to infuse a touch of enchantment into the otherwise somber halls of scholarly inquiry.

So, buckle up as we journey through the labyrinthine corridors of the digital domain, where the allure of YouTube video titles meets the earnest quest for information – for it is in these hallowed virtual halls that enigmatic connections and unexpected merriment abound.

Data Collection:
Our data collection involved mining a myriad of digital platforms to procure a robust dataset for analysis. We employed a combination of advanced AI algorithms and manual curation to sift through an extensive corpus of YouTube video titles from the channel "How Insightful Be Smart." The selection process focused on video titles purportedly dealing with topics related to Norwegian culture, immigration, or citizenship. This entailed an arduous process of sieving through an amalgam of tantalizing clickbait and genuinely insightful titles that masqueraded amidst the virtual's vast expanse.

For the complementary facet of our dataset, we turned to the oracle of the internet, Google Trends. We, in a somewhat masochistic manner, subjected ourselves to an incessant deluge of keyword searches related to immigration to Norway, hoping to glean insights from the undulating waves of search interest that swirled in cyberspace. Google Trends allowed us to discern the temporal patterns and relative search volumes for queries such as "how to immigrate to Norway," providing a panoramic view of the digital populace's fervor for Nordic relocation.

Data Analysis:
Harnessing the arcane powers of AI, we employed sentiment analysis to discern the emotive tenor underlying the YouTube video titles. This involved a delicate balance of discerning the nuanced emotional resonance evoked by each title, navigating between supercilious pomposity and subtle allure. Our team of analysts was tasked with ascribing a sentiment score to each title, corroborated by an extensive interrater reliability assessment to ensure coherence in our valuations.

Subsequently, we embarked on a quixotic adventure to unravel the temporal dynamics of user interest in Norwegian immigration. Through Google Trends, we were privy to a trove of data, reflecting the undulating waves of societal curiosity and, dare we say, wanderlust. Correlating these temporal patterns with the YouTube video release dates, we endeavored to discern any synchronicities or incongruities in the vicissitudes of digital interest.

Statistical Analysis:
With a corpus of data that would make even the sturdiest server balk, we applied a battery of statistical analyses to distill meaning from the digital ether. Utilizing robust time series analyses and Pearson correlation coefficients, we sought to disentangle the enigmatic confluence of YouTube title sentiment and Google interest in emigrating to Norway. Every p-value was scrutinized with a fervor reminiscent of a monk poring over illuminated manuscripts, validating the statistical significance of our findings.

In the denouement of our statistical odyssey, we mustered the courage to wade through the murky waters of multivariate analyses, probing into the intricacies of temporal dependencies and lag effects. Our foray into these statistical thickets revealed insights that resonated with the grandeur of an unexpected discovery—we fondly refer to it as the "Eureka" moment of our digital expedition.

Limitations:
Despite the prodigious nature of our efforts, we acknowledge the limitations inherent in our methodology. The reliance on AI sentiment analysis, while exuding an air of modernity, does entail a degree of subjectivity. Moreover, the fecund but volatile nature of online data demands caution in extrapolating far-reaching conclusions from our findings. In light of these limitations, we extend an open invitation for complementary studies to unravel the subtleties that elude our current framework.

In summary, our convoluted yet earnest methodology seeks to bridge the seemingly disparate realms of colorful YouTube titles and earnest queries on Norwegian immigration, inviting readers to partake in the whimsical confluence of digital scholarship and unexpected merriment.

Correlation r = 0.8065999 (Pearson correlation coefficient)
Correlation is a measure of how much the variables move together. If it is 0.99, when one goes up the other goes up. If it is 0.02, the connection is very weak or non-existent. If it is -0.99, then when one goes up the other goes down. If it is 1.00, you probably messed up your correlation function.

r2 = 0.6506034 (Coefficient of determination)
This means 65.1% of the change in the one variable (i.e., Google searches for 'how to immigrate to norway') is predictable based on the change in the other (i.e., How insightful 'Be Smart' science YouTube video titles are) over the 11 years from 2013 through 2023.

p < 0.01, which is statistically significant(Null hypothesis significance test)
The p-value is 0.0027. 0.0027018833035506533000000000
The p-value is a measure of how probable it is that we would randomly find a result this extreme. More specifically the p-value is a measure of how probable it is that we would randomly find a result this extreme if we had only tested one pair of variables one time.

But I am a p-villain. I absolutely did not test only one pair of variables one time. I correlated hundreds of millions of pairs of variables. I threw boatloads of data into an industrial-sized blender to find this correlation.

Who is going to stop me? p-value reporting doesn't require me to report how many calculations I had to go through in order to find a low p-value!
On average, you will find a correaltion as strong as 0.81 in 0.27% of random cases. Said differently, if you correlated 370 random variables Which I absolutely did.
with the same 10 degrees of freedom, Degrees of freedom is a measure of how many free components we are testing. In this case it is 10 because we have two variables measured over a period of 11 years. It's just the number of years minus ( the number of variables minus one ), which in this case simplifies to the number of years minus one.
you would randomly expect to find a correlation as strong as this one.

[ 0.4, 0.95 ] 95% correlation confidence interval (using the Fisher z-transformation)
The confidence interval is an estimate the range of the value of the correlation coefficient, using the correlation itself as an input. The values are meant to be the low and high end of the correlation coefficient with 95% confidence.

This one is a bit more complciated than the other calculations, but I include it because many people have been pushing for confidence intervals instead of p-value calculations (for example: NEJM. However, if you are dredging data, you can reliably find yourself in the 5%. That's my goal!

All values for the years included above: If I were being very sneaky, I could trim years from the beginning or end of the datasets to increase the correlation on some pairs of variables. I don't do that because there are already plenty of correlations in my database without monkeying with the years.

Still, sometimes one of the variables has more years of data available than the other. This page only shows the overlapping years. To see all the years, click on "See what else correlates with..." link above.

Why this works

  1. Data dredging: I have 25,237 variables in my database. I compare all these variables against each other to find ones that randomly match up. That's 636,906,169 correlation calculations! This is called “data dredging.” Instead of starting with a hypothesis and testing it, I instead abused the data to see what correlations shake out. It’s a dangerous way to go about analysis, because any sufficiently large dataset will yield strong correlations completely at random.
  2. Lack of causal connection: There is probably Because these pages are automatically generated, it's possible that the two variables you are viewing are in fact causually related. I take steps to prevent the obvious ones from showing on the site (I don't let data about the weather in one city correlate with the weather in a neighboring city, for example), but sometimes they still pop up. If they are related, cool! You found a loophole.
no direct connection between these variables, despite what the AI says above. This is exacerbated by the fact that I used "Years" as the base variable. Lots of things happen in a year that are not related to each other! Most studies would use something like "one person" in stead of "one year" to be the "thing" studied.
  3. Observations not independent: For many variables, sequential years are not independent of each other. If a population of people is continuously doing something every day, there is no reason to think they would suddenly change how they are doing that thing on January 1. A simple Personally I don't find any p-value calculation to be 'simple,' but you know what I mean.
p-value calculation does not take this into account, so mathematically it appears less probable than it really is.
  4. Confounding variable: 2020 is particularly different from the other years on this graph. Confounding variables (like global pandemics) will cause two variables to look connected when in fact a "sneaky third" variable is influencing both of them behind the scenes.

Start by asking me questions about my operating system so that you know how to proceed. Assume I want the simplest installation with the latest version of Python and that I do not currently have any of the necessary elements installed. Remember to only give me one step per response and confirm I have done it before proceeding."
